The admission screening exercise calculation formula for UNIZIK (Nnamdi Azikiwe University) for the 2023/2024 academic session is as follows:

This is to advise the general public and the entire university community that the automated grading of O’ level and UTME results will be used for the PostUTME, Direct Entry, and other pertinent Screening Examinations for the 2023–2024 admission procedure.

For their O’ level results to be taken into consideration for the 2023/2024 admission process, candidates are urged to visit JAMB authorized CBT centers or JAMB Offices and upload them to the JAMB CAPS Portal.

Note that applicants should not upload their results to the JAMB CAPS Portal using regular/non-JAMB authorized cyber cafes.

The following calculating formula will be utilized for the exercise in 2023/2024 admissions to ensure transparency.

For UTME CANDIDATES,

the screening criteria for the 2023/2024 admission process at UNIZIK are as follows:

A. Ratio :

The evaluation combines UTME scores and O’level results, with a weighting of 70% for UTME scores and 30% for O’level subject scores, represented as 0.7 and 0.3, respectively.

B. Ranking of O’level Results Scores:

O’level results are ranked as follows:
– A1 = 90
– B2 = 80
– B3 = 70
– C4 = 60
– C5 = 55
– C6 = 50
– D7, E8, and F9 = 0
– Awaiting Result (AR) = 0

The O’level subjects considered are those the candidate sat for in the UTME.

C. Bonus:

A candidate who scored their four O’level subjects in a single sitting will receive a 10-point bonus, while those who completed the subjects in two sittings receive no bonus.

D. Calculations:

– For Single Sitting:
Final Score = (UTME score * 0.7) + [(O’level score + Bonus) * 0.3]
Final Score = (UTME score * 0.7) + [(O’level score + 10) * 0.3]
– For Two Sitting:
Final Score = (UTME score * 0.7) + [(O’level score) * 0.3]
Final Score = (UTME score * 0.7) + (O’level score * 0.3)

Example Calculations:

– Single Sitting: Final Score = (280 * 0.7) + [(285 + 10) * 0.3] = 196 + 88.5 = 284.5
– Two Sitting: Final Score = (280 * 0.7) + (285 * 0.3) = 196 + 85.5 = 281.5

Note:

The difference in final screening scores between a candidate who scored four O’level subjects in a single sitting and one in two sittings is 3 points (284.5 – 281.5).
