ASUU Calls Out VCs Over Allegations of Ethical Compromise

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Sokoto chapter has revealed that Vice-Chancellors of some tertiary institutions are misusing the COVID-19 lockdown to defraud unaware parents and students. According to the Zonal Coordinator, Jamilu Shehu, the alleged institutions perpetuate the act by pretending to keep the academic session running.

Shehu asserted that there are reports where unethical online examinations were still being carried out in some universities. He further remarked that some universities compelled students to pay for ceremonial gowns to take part in online graduation and matriculation ceremonies.

The union maintained that the affected VCs have compromised the University ethical and academic standards and implored the National Universities Commission (NUC) to look into all these allegations
